WANDERING Beauty

Book 2

Jillian Hart has reached her breaking point. Every moment of her day is seemingly consumed catering to her family’s needs and wants as a wife and mother of two. Her only source of solace is the day spa, where she works as a part-time esthetician. Even that is at risk of being taken away by Ivan Hart, Jillian’s demanding husband, and his unrealistic expectations.

When her husband does the unthinkable, Jillian flees with her children to Colemanville, North Carolina to the home of her maternal grandmother, Nana Flo. At her lowest, Jillian must reassess her life and confront the choices that have derailed her dream of owning a day spa specializing in esthetician services.

In Colemanville with Nana Flo’s help, Jillian discovers she and her great-grandmother, Iva Rae Coleman, are kindred spirits after learning intimate details about Iva’s life. With this revelation, she accepts that the crumbling of her marriage was unavoidable to propel her toward her destiny to carry on the Coleman family legacy.

Join the journey of this wandering beauty to see if family secrets, scandals, and her husband’s determination to reconcile will hinder Jillian from fulfilling her destiny.

Coming Soon to Generations

Book 3

Ilona Robertson Brinks is a gifted artist trapped in a gilded cage. Bound by a controlling husband and stifled by domineering parents, Ilona’s world is a portrait of conformity and quiet constraint. Her life is a delicate balance of duty, family expectations, and unspoken dreams. Her art is her great escape from her less than fulfilling reality. Every brushstroke is a private rebellion as the vibrant colors on her canvas whispers the truths she cannot speak. Even moreso when confronted with the return of her first love, Gabriel Thurman.

A veteran injured in the war, Gabriel’s unexpected return reawakens Ilona’s desire for affection and independence. She must grapple with her emotions and the rigid societal norms binding her in a loveless marriage even while contending with another woman setting her lusty sights on Gabriel.

The discovery of her self-righteous husband’s dark secrets forces Ilona to confront the reality of her life. With her world on the brink of implosion, she must find the courage to reclaim her voice, embrace true love, and fully embrace her artistry. Set in 1949 against the rich backdrop of a small southern town, Watercolor Whispers is a poignant exploration of a young woman’s struggle to find her voice in a silencing world and her transformative journey of empowerment and self-discovery.

You May Be Wondering

Our all-Black town of Colemanville is located in North Carolina 10 miles from Jacksonville. But before you jump in your car to come visit it’s fictitious, not real.

Each book is a standalone novella, but represents half of a collaborative pair. For the most rewarding experience we suggest reading each set together–for example read books 1 & 2 together, followed by books 3 & 4, 5 & 6, and so forth and so on. But if you’re a wild card who doesn’t need chronological order, pick and choose as you please.

No, they are strictly works of fiction. That said, they’re sometimes inspired by family lore and (particularly in Suzette H.’s stories) often touch on real characters or events in history.

We brainstormed the series concept together; however, each novella is our own creation. That doesn’t mean we didn’t confer or discuss. We did. We do. Still, there were so many instances of overlap in our characters’ journeys that we found amazing. They simply served as confirmation that Generations was God sent.

Yes, all ten heroines are interconnected. Be it by blood and birth, or sisterhood and friendship, the ladies of Colemanville are related. Through them we celebrate the sensitivity, creativity, resourcefulness, power and strength of Black women.

Hmmm…let’s stay tuned and see.
